What's included in my Royal Bank mobile phone insurance?
You could protect your smartphone against damage, loss, breakdown or theft if you're a Silver, Platinum or Black account customer. We understand your smartphone is a big part of your life, that's why Royal Bank mobile phone insurance will:
- Cover repairs or replacement parts for damage or if something goes wrong (once your manufacturer’s or any other relevant warranty has expired)
- Provide you with a replacement phone if yours is lost or stolen, so you’re not out of pocket.
Things to remember
- There's an excess for each approved claim when your phone is replaced or repaired.
Not all devices are included – the policy covers phones that;
- have a screen size of less than 7 inches (measured diagonally);
- are the manufacturer’s standard design and specification;
- cannot be used as a satellite phone; and
- not have been manufactured wholly or partly from precious or semi precious metals, stones or crystals.
What's not covered
Please note that you're not covered:
- if you deliberately put the phone at risk or left it visible in an unattended vehicle
- for information or apps stored on the phone
- for any costs resulting from unauthorised use.
You'll get worldwide mobile phone insurance
Royal Bank mobile phone insurance is available to those who have our Silver, Platinum or Black bank accounts.
Repair or replace your phone when you're back in the UK.
Cover when your mobile phone has been stolen
Our policies include cover for worldwide theft. There's a £100 excess, but once that's paid we'll be able to provide a replacement, refurbished handset that's as good as new.
When you’ve lost your mobile phone
The good news is that if you lose your phone, you may be covered by your Royal Bank mobile phone insurance policy. To start the process, you’ll need to report the lost phone to your network provider.
If your phone is accidentally damaged
Cracked screens. Broken charge ports. Accidents happen. With mobile phone insurance from Royal Bank your mobile will be covered for accidental damage. We'll arrange a repair or replacement asap, so long as you're in the UK.

Reward Silver and Select Silver account
Worldwide cover for the phone you use on a daily basis.
- One approved claim in any 12-month period.
- Cover for repairs or replacements following loss, accidental damage or theft.
- £50 to £100 excess, depending on service type.
- £100 excess if you send your phone for repair by mail.

To apply for a Reward Platinum you must be an existing Royal Bank current account customer. £22 monthly fee. Select Platinum can't be applied for.
Reward Black and Black account
Worldwide family cover for the phones you use on a daily basis.
- Four approved claims in any 12-month period.
- Covers you, your partner and/or your children under 18 years old who live at home with you (under 23 years old if they are still in full time education and living at home with you outside term time).
- Cover for repairs or replacements following loss, accidental damage or theft.
- £50 to £100 excess, depending on service type.

To apply for a Reward Black you must be an existing Royal Bank current account customer and meet one of the following criteria: have a minimum £100k sole income or £120k joint income paid into your Royal Bank account, or £500k minimum mortgage borrowing with us, or minimum £100k savings or investments held with us. £36 monthly fee. Black account can't be applied for.
Switch to Royal Bank
The Current Account Switch Service will do all the work when it comes to switching, moving everything across from your old account all within 7 working days, including Direct Debits and standing orders. All you need to do is tell us the details of your old bank account and when you want the Switch to start.
We can not switch savings accounts or ISAs through this service. Any other products you have with your old bank will not be moved at the same time.
