How do I set up Apple Pay on my device?
What you’ll need to set up Apple Pay
To set up Apple Pay and to add your credit card or debit card to Wallet:
- iPhone 6 or above
- iPhone 5 or above paired with Apple Watch
- iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad and iPad mini models with Touch ID or Face ID
- Apple Watch Series 1 and 2 and later
- Mac with Touch ID
Your step-by-step guide:
If you have the Royal Bank of Scotland app, and use iPhone 6 or above:
- Log in to the app, making sure you have the latest version downloaded
- On iPhone go to ‘Profile’ > ‘Manage my card’ > Tap the ‘Add to Wallet’ button and follow the on-screen instructions
If you have an Apple Watch linked to your phone, you will be able to select the option on-screen to add the card to your Apple Watch.
Once complete, your card will be available for use within the Apple Wallet.
Another way to add your card:
This step will change depending on which model of Apple device you are using:
- On iPhone open Wallet and tap the 'Plus' icon in the upper-right corner.
- On iPad go to 'Settings' > 'Wallet' > 'Apple Pay' > 'Add Card'.
- For Apple Watch, go to the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and tap 'Wallet & Apple Pay' > 'Add Card'.
- For a Mac with Touch ID go to ‘System Preferences’ > ‘Wallet & Apple Pay’ > ‘Add Card’.
- If you have a Royal Bank of Scotland credit or debit card registered with iTunes, the details will be retrieved from iTunes. You can proceed to add this card, or you can choose to add a new card.
- Royal Bank of Scotland will verify your information and will ask you to verify your card using one of the methods described below.
Once complete, your card will be available for use within the Apple Wallet.
Verifying your card
Royal Bank of Scotland app
You can use your Mobile app to verify your debit card for Apple Pay (not currently available for credit cards):
- On the 'Card Verification' screen select 'Royal Bank of Scotland Mobile Banking' and tap 'Next'
- Your Mobile app will open and you will be prompted to log in.
- You will be prompted to verify your debit card, select 'Verify Card' on the screen.
- You will receive a confirmation notification when ready to use your debit card for Apple Pay.
Please note: Verification may take up to 15 minutes.
Please note: If you haven't fully completed registering for the Mobile app, have just changed your mobile number or have only just registered for Digital Banking, verification through the Mobile app will not be possible at this time. You will need to try again after 72 hours or you can follow the call centre verification option.
One Time passcode
A one time passcode will be sent to your device as a Push notification or to the mobile number that we have on record as a text. If your number has changed, please contact us to update your records:
- On the 'Card Verification' screen select 'Text Message'
- Enter the code you received and tap 'Next'
- You will receive a confirmation notification when ready to use your card for Apple Pay
Please note: If for any reason you don't receive your passcode within 15 minutes please try again, or contact us.
