How can I make an international payment?
This guide explains how to send an international payment using the Royal Bank of Scotland Mobile App or Digital Banking, and includes information on limits, charges, and requirements. Alternatively, you can visit a local branch to make an international payment in person.
What's needed?
- A personal current account.
- Latest version of the Royal Bank of Scotland Mobile App (for payments via mobile banking).
- Bank details:
- IBAN – Beneficiary’s International Bank Account Number used for payments to Europe and some other countries.
- BIC/SWIFT code – Beneficiary’s Bank Identifier Code. It tells us which bank to send the money to. The code is 8 or 11 letters and numbers.
- Account number – For payments to an account without an IBAN.
- Other Information:
- NCC – National Clearing Code (NCC), payments to an account without an IBAN. They are also known as Routing Codes or Bank State Branch (BSB) codes for some countries (e.g. South Africa, Australia and New Zealand).
- For some countries:
- Bank name
- Bank address
