What are the payment limits?

What are the payment limits?

There are different payment limits depending on which type of customer you are and the type of payment you are making.

To provide you with extra protection from fraud and scams, we've given you the ability to manage your own payment limits within Digital Banking or the mobile app. This applies to payments made from your personal account or your business account to someone else.

To make a payment from the mobile app for more than £750, you'll need to have made at least one payment to that payee using Digital Banking.

Payments via telephone banking are limited to £10,000.00.

Payments made on a Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday will form part of the next working day's allowance.

The limit for personal customers is per person not per account.

For personal joint account account holders, each party has a separate limit, so if one party of a joint account makes a payment to someone else from that account, it will not affect the daily limit of the other signatory on the account.

For business account holders - If you have multiple signatories on the account and any signatory makes a payment, this will impact how much you have remaining for that day.

Digital Banking and the mobile app hold a list of the most popular and frequently used utility, local authority and credit card companies. We call these Bill Payments.

When paying someone new, type in the company name and we will display a list of Bill Payments. You will then be able to select the payee and that will pre-populate their account number and sort code for you.

Within the mobile app, only customers who have verified their address and are registered for Biometrics can make a one off High Value Payment within our mobile app. This payment functionality allows you to make a payment over your daily limit, up to £100,000.

These payments will be subject to additional fraud checks and are an alternative to making a CHAPS payment in branch.

You can make a one-off High Value Payment once a day, two in seven days or four in twenty eight rolling days.

Alternatively, you can make a CHAPS payment.

If you are a business customer who regularly makes payments above £50,000.00 then Bankline (opens in a new window) may be better suited to your needs.
